Scenestr Review Laser Beak Man the theatre production

'Laser Beak Man' is truly innovative theatre and unlike anything you’ll have seen before. It is charming, funny, visually compelling and technically jaw-dropping. Yet its greatest achievement is conveying without speech the character of Laser Beak Man who is mute. https://scenestr.com.au/arts/laser-beak-man-la-boite-theatre-review-20170916

The Daily Bulletin reviews Laser Beak Man the stage production

Seamless transitions between scenes, and between media, were attended by the furious pitter-patter of the puppeteers, as video imagery, animation, music and song swung us into a dynamic world of shifting perspectives and heady flights. Much kudos must go to the designers, director, producers, fabricators, managers, dramaturgs and others in greasing the cogs of such a well-oiled machine. http://www.dailybulletin.com.au/the-conversation/33206-laser-beak-man-busts-the-fourth-wall-and-blows-minds-with-superheroic-puppetry

Review in the Australian Laser Beak Man by Dead Puppet Society

Review in the Australian Laser Beak Man by Dead Puppet Society

Today in the Australian review of the opening of the stage production of Laser Beak Man by David Morton Nicholas Paine Tim Sharp. Take a visual artist with an uplifting life story, add a pop band with a gift for melodic hooks, and put them together with a puppet company blessed with a compelling artistic vision and appetite for hard work. The result is Dead Puppet Society’s embarrassment-of-riches stage realisation of Tim Sharp’s Laser Beak Man, a visually splendid, highly entertaining and ultimately moving celebration of community and the inherent value of each individual within it.

Opening night Laser Beak Man by artistic director of the Brisbane Festival Mr. David Berthold

Last night, Laser Beak Man saved the world. Tim Sharp took his curtain call and made us weep with joy. This show, a collaboration between Dead Puppet Society, Brisbane Festival and La Boite Theatre Company, adds to the sum of goodness in the world. Four years in the making, financial and emotional investment from many on two sides of the world, a creative process that has always honoured Tim Sharp’s central place, a gathering of artists and teams all utterly and joyously focused on doing the best work possible. This is the nature of Laser Beak Man. Brisbane Festival feels privileged to be a co-producer of this smile-packed work, and to offer a platform that we hope will help launch it into the wider world. The world needs this story of inclusiveness and generosity, this story of love and equality, and when it’s threaded with such beguiling puppets, delicious music, astounding animations, and, throughout, with such cheek and charm, then the world is the winner. We wish Power City, an emblem of the world, all luck and love on the road to happiness. May the walls break down, and many hands of friendship be extended to many. Let’s all rejoice in our homegrown superhero!

Opening night Laser Beak Man review by Ovations International

WOW. World Premier Laser Beak Man. A full and enthusiastic standing Ovation from the audience! 4 years in the making and WHAT a show. The combination of Tim's art and characters + Dead Puppet Society live band and original score from Ball Park Music was incredible. I have never seen anything like it. Colourful, witty and creative just like Tim! LBM is on at Brisbane Festival till 30 September - a MUST see. There is an exhibition of Tim's original art work for sale at the theatre and you can meet Tim and Judy every night. Will be busy times for Tim and Judy with their show and upcoming keynotes - but Judy tells me they are loving every second of it. – Sharm https://www.ovations.com.au/exclusi…/judy-and-tim-sharp.html
